Three adults and three minors received hospital treatment after being stung by bees in Maricopa, Ariz.

The bees attacked people at several homes over a two-block radius, according to the Maricopa Fire Department. One of the victims transported to the hospital had nearly 300 stings.

Firefighters arrived on the scene around 5 p.m. Saturday and spent two hours eventually locating a hive around a water valve box near the 21000 block of North Van Loo Drive in the Rancho El Dorado subdivision. Equipped with protective gear, the crews used foam to subdue the bees before the hive was destroyed. Two firefighters were stung but did not require treatment.

The Maricopa Fire Department advises residents to call bee experts when they find a hive near their homes.
