Hourslong barricade situation at Phoenix bar ends with suspect in custody

An hourslong barricade situation at a Phoenix bar Tuesday morning has been resolved, authorities said.
The standoff ended with the suspect being apprehended, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Police did not provide the man’s name or say what charges he might face.
The incident began when officers responded to a call about a man wielding a gun at a bar near 35th and Dunlap avenues around 2 a.m.
According to AZ Family, the bar was Dunes Lounge.
Police made sure all customers and employees were out of the venue and then contained the building and attempted to communicate with the subject.
Members of the department’s Special Assignments Unit engaged in negotiations with the man in the hours leading up to his arrest.
While the barricade situation was active, the public was asked to avoid the area and Dunlap Avenue was closed. The road was reopened after the suspect was taken into custody.
