Scottsdale auction pushes Barrett-Jackson over $100M mark for charity

PHOENIX — Cars sold at last week’s Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale officially put the company over the $100 million mark for charitable donations.

“I’m incredibly proud that we’ve reached such a historic milestone of raising nearly $102 million in total charity donations at our home in Scottsdale,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.

According to their website, a $2.55 million sale of a first current-generation Ford GT helped bring the company past the nine-digit figure. In total, ten vehicles raised $6.21 million for a good cause.

Former U.S. President George W. Bush and television host Jay Leno were among the notable people in the audience that helped bring awareness to the auction.

Some of the charities involved included the Autism Alliance of Michigan, Boys Republic and The George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Military Service Initiative.

Jackson and his wife, Carolyn, even auctioned off their personal Corvette, the one that their daughter learned to drive in. The proceeds went to the American Heart Association.

Despite the accomplishment, Jackson said that they’re not planning on slowing down.

“We’re not going to stop here, as this is simply a milestone on our journey to continue to help those who need our help the most,” he said.

Barrett-Jackson said this year’s total auction sales eclipsed $116.7 million.
