PHOENIX — My Republican friends will want to watch this week’s AZ Political Podcast just so they can gloat over the fact that Democrats in Arizona can experience intra-party turmoil too.
However, Democratic political consultant Tony Cani of Radar Strategies says it’s a bit different than GOP infighting. The latest star of the AZ Political Podcasts says it’s not ideologically based. Plus, he doesn’t expect it to hurt Democrats’ chances in next year’s election.
Nevertheless, the Arizona Democratic Party could end up with a change at the top since many lawmakers are saying they dislike the way state chair Robert Branscomb has been running things.
What else does Tony Cani address on AZ Political Podcast?
Tony and I also discuss whether Gov. Katie Hobbs has a chance winning reelection — and I insist that Tony remove his cheerleader hat before giving his assessment. (Not that I remember cheerleaders wearing hats generally.)
We also talk about how Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes can improve her image (and thereby her reelection chances) by highlighting her authentic Arizona roots.
Even if you’re simply watching to sneer at the sad soap opera of state party politics, I still hope you catch the AZ Political Podcast, whether you’re cheering from the Republican seats with a bucket of popcorn or chewing off your nails in the Democrat section.
