Avondale library launches instrument loan program for music students

PHOENIX – Would you like a flute with your fiction? How about a bell with your biography?

Those combos could be possible for students through the Avondale Public Library system.

The West Valley suburb started a free pilot program this month for lending musical instruments.

The program is designed to give kids a chance to try out an instrument before buying one.

It’s available to Avondale residents in grades K-12 who are enrolled in a music program, either private or through school.

Availability is limited. The current offerings are alto saxophone, clarinet, bell or drum kits, flute, trombone, trumpet, violin and viola.

The loans are good for 20 weeks, the length of a school semester.

Instruments can be requested by completing an online form. Applicants must provide proof of residency and enrollment in music program.
