Avondale Fiesta street festival to take place Saturday night

Cinco de Mayo isn't until next week, but Avondale is getting the party started early with a street festival Saturday night.

PHOENIX — Cinco de Mayo isn’t until next week, but Avondale is getting the party started early with a street festival Saturday night.

Avondale Fiesta takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale, the city said in a press release.

There will be more than 35 exhibitors at the street festival, with food options including El Pastorcito Taqueria PHX, Have You Been To The South, Naughty Tacos, Paloma Tacos AZ, Angels on the Go, Frostbite, Cerealphoria, Young Smoke-N BBQ and Taco Hog.

Other attractions of the street festival are a cantina benefiting Ballet Folklorico Esperanza, luchadores matches every 20 minutes from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as activities like crafts, games, mechanical bull riding and axe throwing.

Among the entertainment performing on the main stage are Aztec dancers, Mariachi Mexico and Ballet Folklorico Esperanza.

A schedule and a map of the festival can be viewed online.

The first 300 attendees to the event will get a giveaway from presenting sponsor Avondale Toyota, the city said.
