Avondale to celebrate city heritage with annual Billy Moore Days this upcoming weekend

PHOENIX — Four days of city fun are headed Avondale’s way this week for the annual Billy Moore Days celebration that will feature carnival rides, marching bands,  food and more.

Beginning Thursday and lasting through Sunday, Festival Fields Park, which is located at Litchfield and Lower Buckeye roads, will host the surrounding community for the event.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m., in the middle of the festivities, will be the Billy Moore Days Parade that will make its way through Old Town Avondale along Central and Western Avenues.

What activities, events will be at 2025 Billy Moore Days in Avondale?

In addition to the carnival scene, the four-day event will offer several free activities such as crafts, face painting and pony rides from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

A cornhole tournament, which will start at 6 p.m. on Friday and is $25 to enter online, will benefit the Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank and the Monster Smash Softball Tournament, which will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., will also benefit the local food and clothing bank.

Event times, ticket and parking information

The 2025 Billy Moore Days event will have different operating hours for its carnival each day, and here they are:

• Thursday – 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• Friday – 6 p.m. to midnight
• Saturday – 3 p.m. to midnight
• Sunday – 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Wristbands can be purchased for $17 online or $20 at the event to unlock unlimited ride access from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Individual mega pass tickets, which provide unlimited rides for all four days, are available for $100 if bought by Thursday at 4 p.m.

For those only wanting to ride a certain amount of times, individual ride tickets are $1 for one ride, $20 for 20, $35 for 40 and $75 for 100.

All parking at Festival Fields Park will be first-come, first-serve, and overflow parking will be available at Mountain View Park, which is located just northeast of the event site.
