Auto shop fire draws crews from multiple Valley fire departments

PHOENIX – Firefighters from multiple Valley cities worked nearly an hour to put out a blaze at an auto mechanic’s shop in Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

There were no reports injuries in the fire near Cave Creek and Bell roads that required the efforts of 50 firefighters from Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria.

The Phoenix Fire Department sent out a crew after an 8:30 a.m. report of a structure fire in the area.

When the first responders arrived, employees had gotten themselves out of the building and “Flames [were] coming from the roof,” Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

The flames were put out after 45 minutes but crews stayed behind to take care of any remaining hot spots.

Fire control has been achieved. Crews will remain on the scene over the next couple of hours to extinguish all remaining hotspots.

The activity shut down Cave Creek Road in both directions between Bell Road and Union Hills Drive.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
