Arsonist targeting East Valley cars

Chandler police are investigating a string of overnight car fires.

Sgt. Joe Favazzo said Thursday that four cars were destroyed and at least four people called police to report attempted burnings of their cars.

“We’ve had four fires and we are thankful nobody has been hurt. These are dangerous situations,” Favazzo said. “These cars are unstable and we don’t know what they’re going to do.”

He said cars in Mesa were also targeted. Mesa Fire confirms two vehicles were torched there.
