Suspect arrested in Tonopah animal neglect case where 12 dogs were rescued

PHOENIX — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a Tonopah animal neglect case where 12 dog were rescued, authorities said.

Brittani Rose was identified as the suspect in the alleged animal neglect, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Rose faces charges of subjecting animals to cruel mistreatment, failing to provide medical attention necessary to prevent protracted suffering to an animal and six counts of subjecting animals under the person’s custody to cruel or neglect abandonment.

Detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office’s Animal Crimes unit recently rescued 12 dogs from a property in Tonopah.

In a post to X on Friday, MCSO said that detectives issued a search warrant at the property following reports of animal neglect.

The 12 dogs were allegedly underweight and found living in hazardous conditions.

The dogs did not have proper access to food, water or medical care, according to police.

MCSO said that one of the dogs had a severe untreated injury that was causing protracted suffering.

In addition, the property reportedly was full of debris and uninhabitable structures, on top of a lack of running water and electricity.

No other information was provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
