Arrest made in threat against homecoming game at West Valley school

PHOENIX — A former student of a West Valley high school was arrested Monday after being accused of making a threat scheduled for the homecoming game.
The suspect, a 16-year-old male, allegedly posted the threat on social media against Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies and Buckeye police was alerted to it Thursday, one day before the game.
The school’s resource officer identified the suspect as a former student, police said.
“The Buckeye Police Department will not tolerate activity that disrupts the safety and security of our community,” the department said in a statement.
“Threats made against our schools, whether they are meant as a joke or not, are dangerous and will result in criminal charges.”
The suspect was booked into a juvenile detention center on multiple felony charges.
No other information was available.
