Police make arrest in connection to hit-and-run in Scottsdale

PHOENIX — A man has been arrested in connection to a May hit-and-run case in Scottsdale that left a man in critical condition, authorities said.

Edward Michael Novak, 27, was arrested for the May 25 hit-and-run, according to Scottsdale Police Department.

Scottsdale Police said through surveillance video, detectives from the Vehicle Crimes and Reconstruction Unit were able to establish a lead on a vehicle that matched the description given by a witness.

They were then able to obtain license plate information that led them to Novak.

During the investigation, police searched Novak’s home and found evidence believed to be related to the case.

Novak was booked into Maricopa County Jail on charges related to the hit-and-run.

Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Third Avenue that happened around 2:20 a.m., according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Upon arrival, police found a man with injuries. The man was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition, police said.

Upon investigation, authorities said the man was crossing westbound Scottsdale Road on Third Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle that did not stop.

As a result of the collision, the roadway was closed from 2:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
