Armed Mesa man shot, killed by deputies after confrontation
An armed man was shot and killed by Maricopa County deputies in Mesa on Sunday after allegedly shooting a weapon in public.

PHOENIX — An armed man was shot and killed in Mesa on Sunday after allegedly shooting a weapon in public.
Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies shot 50-year-old Edward Rudhman after he confronted them.

It was not immediately clear what the confrontation entailed or whether Rudhman fired at deputies.
Rudhman was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The confrontation occurred near Crimson and McKellips roads.
No deputies were injured in the confrontation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
