Arizonans urged to act as part of National Voter Registration Day push

PHOENIX — State and U.S. politicians and celebrities took to social media Tuesday to encourage Americans to act on National Voter Registration Day.

Arizonans have until Oct. 5 — less than two weeks — to register and be eligible for the Nov. 3 general election.

Early voting begins Oct. 7, which is also the same day counties will start sending out mail-in ballots.

Registered voters who aren’t on Arizona’s permanent early voting list can request a mail-in ballot by Oct. 23.

The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office says early ballots should be put in the mail by Oct. 27. They won’t be counted unless they are received at the county election office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Don’t trust the mail? Early ballots can also be submitted at secure drop boxes or polling locations, either during the early voting period or on Election Day.

So did the rivals in Arizona’s hotly contested U.S. Senate race, Republican incumbent Martha McSally and Democratic challenger Mark Kelly.
