ASU’s Michael Crow earns $1.5M, tops among public college presidents

PHOENIX — Arizona State University’s Michael Crow topped the list of highest-paid public university presidents, a higher education publication has revealed.
Crow, 61, was among several college presidents who earned $1 million or more, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. He earned just over $1.5 million for 2015-2016.
The publication released its yearly list Tuesday.
Other top earners were William McRaven, chancellor of the University of Texas system (eight universities and six health institutions); John Sharp, chancellor of Texas A&M system office; Kent Fuchs, University of Florida and Michael McRobbie, University of Indiana system.
The top 10 were all men.
Outgoing University of Arizona President Ann Weaver Hart earned $594,647 in total compensation. She has been in the job since November 2012. Her successor, Dr. Robert Robbins, CEO of Texas Medical Center, will be paid $998,000 for a three-year contract.
With a base pay of $838,000, Crow also received a $150,000 bonus and a retention bonus that amounted to over a half-million dollars.
He has been among the best-paid public academics leaders for two years.
ASU named Crow president in 2002. Under his leadership the school has partnered with coffee giant Starbucks to help its employee earn a degree, expanded its online ad virtual learning expanded ASU Polytechnic in Mesa and opened a campus in downtown Phoenix.
He told the May 2017 graduates at commencement, “We cannot sit back and accept the way things have always been. Because we always must be advancing them towards these higher goals.
“Do not accept the status quo; change the status quo.”

LOL ... I got the wild a** idea to "modernize" my thinking so I enrolled at PhxC ... at it now a year plus almost 2, refresh my Spanish, get a pulse on "social issues", modernize the dialogue, observe our kids at college and maybe inspire my gk's to get off their b u t t s and enroll. OMG ;o)
A critical writing class chapter: Sechist Words, was a hoot! Trying eliminating the "masculine" in favor of neutral sech identity pronouns - ie: them = man and women, in mixed groups settings ... no chapter on what to do with trannies ...I am sure that's somewhere ahead.
I have scheduled a meeting with the prof to discuss that bs and root out it origins. This is why we need to get federal money out of education!
Right now among the "modern latino", spanish being a masculine "heavy" idiom, driven by the homosechual agenda, the rage now is "latinx" as a gender modifier. I don't see those pesky machismos giving that up anytime soon.
