Arizona Snowbowl chairlift open for scenic views of fall colors

PHOENIX – There might not be many signs the season has changed in the Valley, but the vivid fall colors are on display at Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff.

Starting this weekend, travelers to the north can take in the colorful sights from the resort’s scenic chairlift, which ascends to 11,500 feet and provides views from Sedona to the Grand Canyon.

Snowbowl will be open for activities Friday through Sunday this weekend and daily Oct. 5-21. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

J.R. Murray, general manager of Arizona Snowbowl, said the leaves are about 20 percent changed to their fall colors.

“The aspen leaves have begun to change. In fact, they’re changing every day,” he said.

Murray said he expects the fall leaves to last for about two weeks, so those wanting to see the colors need to plan their trip rather quickly.

In addition to the chairlift, visitors can enjoy summer tubing, a bungee trampoline, a ropes course, treasure panning and more.

Chairlift tickets cost $19 for adults Monday-Friday and $24 Saturday-Sunday. For children ages 6-12 and seniors 65 and older, it’s $15 Monday-Friday and $19 Saturday-Sunday.

Kids under 5 ride free, and discounts are available when tickets are purchased at least 24 hours in advance.

If winter is your season, Snowbowl has you covered there, too. Lift tickets for skiers are available online, with Nov. 16 set as the first day to hit the slopes.
