Arizona sheriff says video network launch won’t interfere with his job

PHOENIX – An Arizona sheriff says his new streaming video network highlighting the work of law enforcement won’t interfere with his day job.

Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show on Wednesday that the American Sheriff Network will debut in about 10 days.

“That’s something I went out and did on my own time,” he said. “So it’s not going to take away from my ability to do my job. I think it can make me better as a sheriff, better as a law enforcement official.”

Lamb, a on-air veteran of the canceled “Live PD” television show, said he was exposed to new ideas from other sheriffs while producing videos for the network.

“I’m going to be able to … apply a lot of ideas and techniques and programs into my own agency that our taxpayer didn’t have to pay for,” he said.

The central Arizona lawman said he will continue to work 50-60 hours a week as sheriff and carve out time for the network from his personal life.

“I’m having to peel off … family time,” he said. “All my kids are out of the house now. My wife and I sat down, we made a decision as a family that this is important to us.

“We think it’s important to America, and it’s certainly important to our profession. Sacrifices have to be made.”

American Sheriff Network subscriptions start at $4.99 a month. The service will only be available online at americansheriff.com initially, but Lamb said he’s hoping to develop a smart TV app.

He said the network will produce about 10 videos per week.

“Different types of videos, training, the ride-along, the action, the stories,” Lamb said. “We’re showing the stories behind our law enforcement guys.

“I’ll tell you, it’s going to be great. It’s really going to be a good interactive experience.”
