Arizona ranks in bottom half of states for best places to live

PHOENIX — Compared to other states, Arizona has a number of amenities that make it an oasis for some.

But taking a closer look, the state may not be all it’s chalked up to be.

Taking affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life and safety into account, WalletHub found that Arizona ranked 38th out of the 50 states.

Arizona’s quality of life was by far the state’s best attribute as it ranked 24th, but didn’t fare as well in the other four categories.

Safety marked Arizona’s biggest weakness, coming in at No. 45 on the list, while the other three categories ended up in the early 30’s range.

Massachusetts was ranked as the top place to live in the U.S., finishing second in economy and education and health, but 43rd in affordability.

Mississippi saw the worst score of the states, landing at the bottom of the ranking. The state finished dead last in education and health.

North Dakota had the best economy, while New York was ranked as having the best quality of life.
