Arizona man sentenced to 3 years in prison for defrauding vulnerable adults

PHOENIX — A Tucson man has been sentenced to three years in prison after previously pleading guilty to attempted fraudulent schemes and artifices.

Hector Andres Aleman was also ordered to pay restitution of at least $32,046 to an individual victim, $10,000 to Pima Federal Credit Union and $139,369.39 to CUNA Mutual Group.

A Pima County judge handed down the judgment on Nov. 4.

Aleman was accused of using a position of trust to take advantage of vulnerable adults by gaining access to their funds and transferring the money to himself, according to a press release from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday.

The man from March through November of 2018 applied for loans in the name of his victims without their permission or knowledge and kept the cash for himself, authorities said.

The investigation was handled by the Tucson Police Department while Assistant Attorney General Doug Clark prosecuted the case.
