PHOENIX — Love the outdoors?

Then the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s annual Outdoor Expo might just peak your interest.

The expo runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 28 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 29 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix. Admission and parking are free.

The two-day event will include wildlife exhibits, family fishing tanks and there’s even a 90,000-gallon makeshift lake for kayaking. Those in attendance can also try out firearms in a safe and controlled environment on the range, and can speak with numerous experts in hunting, fishing and everything else outdoors. More than 150 exhibitors are set to attend.

In addition, educators coming to the event can sign up for one of the AZGFD’s free Educator Information Sessions offered at the expo.

“We’re not aware of any other free event of this scale that combines conservation, recreation and industry into such a welcoming environment for the public,” AZGFD Director Ty Gray said in a press release.

“This is where people can find plenty of hands-on activities, see educational exhibits, test and purchase the latest equipment and products, and connect with social organizations that can provide countless ‘next step’ experiences to support their outdoor passions.”

Last year’s expo brought in more than 52,000 people, drawing the largest crowd in the event’s 15-year history.
