Arizona Fry’s Food Stores temporarily adjust store hours

PHOENIX — As customers clear out shelves amid fears of the coronavirus pandemic, Fry’s Food Stores announced locations across Arizona will close early starting on Sunday.

Fry’s Food Stores will now be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

In a press release, the chain said an early closure will allow employees more time to stock items.

Fry’s has been selling out of food and supplies quickly as fear of potential quarantine has pushed some people to buy in bulk.

It has led some locations to impose limits on the amount people are allowed to purchase in a single transaction.

Essential items like toilet paper, hand sanitizer and bottled water have been at a premium nationwide.

Chains including Costco and Target have also seen shortages with these cleaning supplies and experienced long lines.

At least one Valley Costco location has placed similar limits on single-transaction purchases.

The virus hasn’t just affected stores.

Some school districts around the Valley have closed and events and sports nationwide have been canceled or postponed in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
