Arizona flags to fly half-staff Saturday for fallen Border Patrol agent

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey ordered flags lowered to half-staff on state buildings Saturday to honor a Border Patrol agent who died last week.

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Anibal “Tony” A. Perez of the Tucson Sector died in the line of duty Nov. 5, according to a tweet Wednesday from U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz.

No details about how Perez died have been released. He joined the Border Patrol in 2006, according to Ortiz.

“He put his life on the line to keep our border safe and protect fellow Arizonans. His bravery and selflessness made our communities and entire state stronger — and we are grateful for his service,” Ducey said in a press release.

Arizona’s flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset for the second consecutive day.

Ducey ordered flags to be flown at half-staff Friday in honor of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chad Brackman, who died after a car hit him Wednesday morning while he was working off-duty traffic control in Scottsdale.
