Arizona DPS troopers find 50 pounds of meth, 5 pounds of fentanyl during traffic stop

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers found methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine during a traffic stop, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers found methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine during a traffic stop, authorities said.

The drugs were discovered after a red Dodge van driven by Raul Lopez, 42, of Nogales was stopped for speeding on westbound Interstate 10 near Marana on Jan. 19, DPS said in a press release Friday.

Troopers found over 50 pounds of meth, 5 pounds of fentanyl pills and a small amount of cocaine, according to DPS.

Lopez was arrested and faces charges including possession and transportation of a dangerous drug for sale, and possession and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale.

He was booked into Pima County Jail.
