Arizona DPS trooper arrested for threatening to kill coworker

PHOENIX — An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was arrested Saturday after he threatened to kill another employee the previous day.

Edward Swan, who has worked for DPS for eight years, made the threat in front of his supervisor during a Friday meeting, according to the agency.

According to court documents, the 48-year-old trooper said twice that he was going to kill the employee, and he said he would fight him if he saw him in a bar.

The victim was notified and plans to seek prosecution, according to the documents.

Swan was charged with one count of threatening or intimidating. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
