Arizona Board of Regents report shows how much more college graduates earn

PHOENIX – College graduates in Arizona earn significantly more money than workers who only have high school diplomas, according to a new report from the governing board of the state’s public universities.

“Degree holders have better quality of life, have more opportunities in the job market and contribute significantly to the tax base, providing a robust economy for all,” Lyndel Manson, chairwoman of the Arizona Board of Regents, said in a press release Thursday.

ABOR’s annual alumni wages report for the 2020 fiscal year found that the state’s high school graduates who don’t pursue higher education earn a median wage of $31,371 a year, about $20,000 less than workers with bachelor’s degrees ($52,077) and under half of what graduate degree holders make ($69,902).

The report analyzes wage data for graduates of each of the state’s three public universities: Arizona State, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona.

Graduates in computer science and engineering earn the most among workers with bachelor’s degrees, while computer sciences, engineering and business are the most lucrative field for graduate degree holders.
