Arizona air quality regulators set pollution advisory for Phoenix area

PHOENIX – Arizona environmental regulators have issued another ozone pollution advisory for metro Phoenix, this time for Tuesday.

The Valley was expected to exceed the federal health standard for air quality.

Officials with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality recommended anyone with respiratory problems limit their outdoor activities.

Elevated ozone levels can cause wheezing, coughing, itchy eyes, nose and throat, shortness of breath and even chest pains.

Ozone forms when vehicle exhaust and chemical solvents combine with heat and sunlight.
