Arizona AG’s office offers $300,000 in grants to support trafficking victims

PHOENIX – The Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Monday it will hand out $300,000 in grants to support human trafficking survivors.

Eligible groups can apply for one-time grants of up to $75,000 each by March 9.

The money is earmarked for established nonprofit organizations that offer shelter, mental health/medical support, substance abuse treatment, vocational training and education for victims of human and sex trafficking.

The grants are funded from the $37.1 million Arizona received as part of a $575 million nationwide settlement with Wells Fargo over consumer law violations by the bank.

The state Legislature authorized the portion for trafficking grants in an appropriations bill last year.

“I’m proud our office can help provide additional resources to victims of these terrible crimes,” Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a press release.

Brnovich said his office has prosecuted more than 250 cases related to human trafficking during his tenure.
