Arizona AG: Chandler man sentenced to nearly 10 years for theft, narcotics

PHOENIX — A Chandler man has been sentenced to almost 10 years in prison for theft and selling dangerous narcotics, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Friday.

Robert Thomas Padilla Sr., 67, was sentenced to 9.25 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections for his involvement in buying and selling stolen property, and selling dangerous narcotic drugs from a Chandler home. Padilla’s prison sentence will be followed by a three-year term of supervised probation.

Six other individuals were also sentenced in connection to the crimes, ranging from 18 months probation to five years in prison. The ages of the six individuals ranged from 24 to 56 years old.

Between March and September of 2017, detectives with the Chandler Police Department were tipped off about the group of seven buying and selling stolen property, while also selling methamphetamine and heroin.

Over the course of the investigation, undercover officers purchased illegal drugs from Padilla and his associates.

The 67-year-old was the last of the seven individuals sentenced on March 25. Padilla pleaded guilty to one felony count of illegally conducting an enterprise and two felony counts of sale or transfer of narcotics drugs.
