Apartment building fire sends plume of smoke over Casa Grande

An unfinished apartment building caught fire on Friday, sending a plume of black smoke over Casa Grande.

The three-story complex, located at 700 E. Rodeo Rd., is under construction and had not been lived in.

“They just started building them within the last two to three months,” said Fire Marshall Barbara Rice.

Officials do no believe foul play caused the fire.

“It could very will be accidental in nature,” said Rice. “We do have some report of activity and construction work that including welding before the fire started.”

No injuries were reported.
