Apache Junction police seek public’s help after woman kidnapped at gunpoint

Apache Junction police are looking for other possible victims of a man accused of kidnapping an 18-year-old woman at gunpoint and assaulting her.

Pedro Torres, 32, was arrested Sept. 25 and faces eight felony charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual abuse and first-degree burglary, police said.

Police said the woman was arriving home from work around 1 a.m. Sept. 24 near 16th Avenue and San Marcos Drive when a man with a gun forced her to leave with him. She was held for several hours and assaulted multiple times before being released. She was severely injured and later went to a hospital, where staff contacted police.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have had a similar encounter with Torres, who is linked to a gold or yellow 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
