Anti-ICE protestor who attacked Peoria police officer charged with 3 felonies

PHOENIX – An anti-ICE protestor who assaulted a Peoria police officer on Tuesday faces three felony charges, authorities announced on Friday.

Tyler Hitte, 23, allegedly assaulted a sergeant who was helping federal authorities with a drug case near the area of 67th and Peoria avenues.

Hitte was captured on video wrapping yellow tape around an officer before he turned and hit her with a metal water bottle, police said.

Hitte originally resisted arrest from multiple officers but was later tased, arrested and charged with assaulting an officer.

She was booked and later released under pretrial supervision, authorities said. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 25.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said Hitte is facing two counts of aggravated assault and one count of resisting arrest, all felonies.

Hitte is also facing a criminal charge stemming from a protest on the Arizona State University campus last year.
