Animals ‘doing well’ after being moved from Dolphinaris Arizona

PHOENIX — The dolphins that were moved from Dolphinaris Arizona following the deaths of four animals are in good condition.

Four animals that were transferred last month to Coral World Ocean Park in the U.S. Virgin Islands are “doing well and getting getting familiar with their new in ocean home,” the park said in a Wednesday statement to ABC15.

The facility on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community tribal land temporarily closed for evaluation after 22-year-old Kai died in January. The animals were moved to allow a panel of experts to evaluate the facility.

It was the aquatic center’s fourth dolphin death in the less than two years that it had been open.

“We are giving the dolphins time to adjust and build strong relationships with their trainers before they are introduced to the public,” the park said.

There is no estimated timeline when the dolphins will be on display to the public at Coral World Ocean Park.

“We look forward to provide visitors the opportunity to meet the dolphins up close and to build a connection with them, but will only do so when our new family members are comfortable,” the park told ABC15.

There is no set reopening date for Dolphinaris.
