Amy Beck to return to work at Peoria Unified after video investigation

PHOENIX — Peoria Unified School District confirmed Friday that Amy Beck, a teacher at Coyote Hills Elementary School and the mother of TikTok star and actor Noah Beck, will return to work following an investigation into a 2020 video circulating online.

Beck was placed on leave earlier this week while the district investigated a video that appeared to depict a simulated sex act involving Beck and her son.

“The school and district have addressed concerns regarding videos that were published in 2020, appropriate measures have been taken and Mrs. Beck will transition back into the classroom on Monday, May 4,” Peoria Unified Chief Communications Officer Danielle Airey said in a statement to KTAR News 92.3 FM.

Airey added that due it being a personnel matter no other information would be shared.

Principal Julia Abbott also sent a letter to second grade families to inform them of Beck’s return.

“While we cannot discuss the specifics of her leave, please known that the district’s investigation concluded that Mrs. Beck’s actions outside the workplace did not interfere with her ability to fulfill her teaching responsibilities,” Abbott wrote in the letter. “Additionally, appropriate follow-up measures have been taken in accordance with Governing Board Policy.”

The principal also emphasized that all staff members are expected to maintain “the highest standards of professionalism and character” while in and outside of the classroom.

Amy Beck’s daughter was fired by district over sexual misconduct allegations

Peoria Unified has been under scrutiny for its handling of misconduct allegations against two former Centennial High School teachers, one of which is Amy Beck’s daughter Haley.

ABC15 reported Haley Beck was accused of exchanging more than 4,000 text messages with a teen student in 2025, including messages about sex, alcohol and drugs. Police records also allege Beck sent the student $630 over about six weeks.

Meanwhile, another teacher, Angela Burlaka, was accused of sending sexually explicit videos to the same student, according to police records.

Through the district’s Title IX process, Haley Beck was found to have violated governing board policy on sexual harassment and a statement of charges to terminate was adopted on March 26. Her teaching certificate is still under investigation by the state, according to Superintendent KC Somers.

However, Burlaka’s teaching certification was voluntarily surrendered and accepted by the Arizona Department of Education on Jan. 26, the same day the district terminated her employment.

In a letter sent Monday to Centennial families, Somers said the district met its legal obligations as a mandatory reporter in that case. Somers said the Peoria Police Department confirmed in writing on April 2 that there was no indication district officials failed to meet reporting requirements under Arizona law.

The Peoria Police Department has submitted its findings in that case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.

“At this point, I would say that the investigation is ongoing. There is a critical witness … that has yet to be interviewed, and so we are waiting for that to happen,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell told reporters on Thursday regarding charging decisions for the case.
