It’s not every day you meet someone who embodies Arizona’s past, present and future, but Steven Brophy comes close. As president and CEO of Aztec Land and Cattle Company, he oversees one of the state’s largest private landholdings. But his roots run even deeper.

If the name Brophy rings a bell, it should. In 1928, Ellen Amelia Brophy founded Brophy College Preparatory to honor her husband, William Henry Brophy, an Irish immigrant turned banker whose legacy shaped Arizona’s philanthropic landscape.

Steven may shy away from the spotlight, but his quiet stewardship of land and legacy speaks volumes. You can feel how much he loves Arizona from the poetic way he describes its natural beauty.

He also shares tidbits of wisdom about the land and the best way to take care of cattle.

After all, cattle is one of the five C’s of Arizona — along with copper, cotton, citrus and climate!
