Allegiant Air adding nonstop route between Phoenix area and Houston

PHOENIX — Valley travelers will now have another flight option when traveling to Texas.

Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it is adding a nonstop flight between Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and William P. Hobby Airport in Houston.

The route will operate twice weekly beginning Feb. 11. Flights are currently scheduled for Sundays and Thursdays.

“The return of air travel is being led by leisure travelers looking to safely reconnect with family and friends,” Gail Barney, chairman of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority and Queen Creek mayor, said in a press release.

“We applaud Allegiant’s announcement of new routes, commitment to safety and continued investment in the Greater Phoenix region.”

Barney added that Allegiant has enhanced its passenger safety protocol in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The airline is offering one-way fares as low as $49 to celebrate the new route.

Fourteen additional nonstop routes were announced, including introduction of service in Orange County, California.

Earlier this year, the low-cost airline announced nonstop service between Phoenix-Mesa Gateway and Santa Maria, California.
