Arizona judicial review board says all judges on 2026 ballot meet performance standards

PHOENIX — An independent state commission tasked with evaluating the performance of Arizona judges has given a passing grade to every jurist scheduled to appear on the 2026 general election ballot.

The Arizona Commission on Judicial Performance Review met Friday to cast votes on whether 84 judges from across the state and one Arizona Supreme Court justice meet judicial standards.

Following a review of more than 10,000 surveys, written comments and testimony from a public hearing, the commission found that every eligible judge met the necessary requirements for professionalism and impartiality.

The commission was established in 1992 to provide oversight for the state’s merit selection system. While the commission votes on whether a judge meets standards, the final decision on whether they remain on the bench rests with Arizona voters. The results of these evaluations are intended to help residents make informed decisions at the ballot box.

Voters will be able to review the specific findings for each judge in the Secretary of State’s voter pamphlet, which is scheduled for publication in September 2026. The reports will also be available online at azjudges.info.

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2026.
