9-year-old boy pulled from Tempe house fire dies in hospital

Authorities in Tempe said a boy died at a hospital after he was pulled from a burning home Wednesday afternoon.

PHOENIX – Authorities in Tempe said a boy died at a hospital after he was pulled from a burning home Wednesday afternoon.

A Tempe Police Department spokeswoman said the 9-year-old was found inside a house that was ablaze near Scottsdale and Curry roads around 2 p.m.

That duplex and another were damaged in the second-alarm fire. First responders from Tempe Fire Medical Rescue put out the blaze.

ABC15 reported a neighbor heard an explosion and saw black smoke and flames shooting into the sky.
