74-year-old man struck, killed while crossing Phoenix street
A 74-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday night, authorities said. The collision took place around 11:10 p.m.

PHOENIX — A 74-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Phoenix on Saturday night, authorities said.
Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to the scene near 16th Street and Pinchot Avenue around 11:10 p.m.
They found a man later identified as Manuel Porfido Madril with serious injuries. He was brought to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene after the collision, police said. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the incident.
Madril was apparently crossing 16th Street mid-block when he was hit by the vehicle headed northbound, police said.
A charging decision will be made after the investigation is completed.

Apparently, Manuel found it was just too much work to simply walk a few hundred feet and use the dam crosswalk ..
Look at the street view of this part of the street. There is a large yellow sign telling drivers to watch out for pedestrians.
