5 people arrested for series of shootings in Scottsdale

Five adult males have been arrested and booked into jail for their actions in a series of shootings and violent incidents on Wednesday, authorities said.

The five suspects have been booked on a variety of felony arrests, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misconduct involving weapons, unlawful discharge of firearms and resisting arrest, according to a Scottsdale Police Department.

The five suspects arrested in connection with the shooting were as follows: 

• Christian Santiago Grant (20 years old)
• Brandon Lamont Robert Warfield Jr. (20 years old)
• Fredrion Lleon Arnes Thomas (20 years old)
• Ba’nari Douglas-Clay (21 years old)
• Quassan Marcus Cunningham (29 years old)

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls of shots being fired at a Circle K near Camelback Road and Miller Road at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

As police arrived and began investigating, more shots fired were heard at a nearby apartment complex.

Following the shots, police found Santiago Grant hiding “inside a clothes dryer” near the 4600 block of North Miller Road, authorities said.

He was initially booked on criminal damage and resisting arrest charges before he was re-arrested on Friday after an additional investigation on an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Lleon Arnes Thomas was arrested on the day of the incident and booked on numerous weapons misconduct charges.

Marcus Cunningham was also arrested on Wednesday before being re-arrested on an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon thanks to “coordinated search warrant operations” by Scottsdale detectives and the Scottsdale Police Special Assignment Unit, police said.

Douglas-Clay was arrested and booked on weapons misconduct charges during a related follow-up investigation on Thursday.

Police found Lamont Robert Warfield after an officer-involved shooting near East Hazelwood Street. He was arrested and booked on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer. Lamont Robert Warfield also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

“Our officers, detectives and professional staff responded to an incredibly chaotic and dangerous incident with professionalism, courage and urgency,” Scottsdale Police Chief Joe LeDuc said in the release. “Their work over the last several days was outstanding and led to the arrest of all individuals connected to this violence. This case is another example of the relentless commitment we have to protecting this community and holding violent offenders accountable.”

No officers were injured during the initial incident and the investigation remains active.
