5 Arizona breweries earn medals at 2025 World Beer Cup

PHOENIX — Five Arizona breweries won medals at the 2025 World Beer Cup last week.

Dragoon Amber of Tucson’s Dragon Brewing Company, Now What? of Goodyear’s Saddle Mountain Brewing Company and Railhead Red of Flagstaff’s Lumberyard Brewing Company took home silver medals at the event.

Apple Pie à La Mode of Tempe’s Six Bryd Cider and Rojo of Tucson’s Barrio Brewing Company took home bronze medals.

Silver medals signify an “excellent beer” while bronze medals represent a “fine example of the style,” according to the competition’s website.

“Evaluating beer happens on many levels. On a professional level, beer evaluation is a form of peer review,” World Beer Cup director Chris Williams said via the World Beer Cup website.

“The results are public, so consumers can learn what beers meet a high level of quality and what beers exemplify certain styles as interpreted by the judges. When industry professionals acknowledge the excellence in products from around the market, the consumer can be sure that those products are the finest available.”

The World Beer Cup debuted in 1996 and is an annual event that celebrates the top beers around the world.

This year’s competition featured 112 beer-style categories and drew 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries in 49 countries, according to a press release.

The awards ceremony was held in Indianapolis, Indiana, as part of the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America.
