4-year-old boy in critical condition after Phoenix drowning incident

A 4-year-old boy was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition after a drowning incident Monday morning in a family pool in Phoenix, authorities said.

PHOENIX – A 4-year-old boy was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition after a drowning incident Monday morning in a family pool in Phoenix, authorities said.

The child apparently got into the backyard near Baseline Road and 43rd Avenue while a family member was in the shower, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

He was found floating face down in the water.

Police got to the scene first and began performing CPR. The Phoenix Fire Department then arrived and initiated advanced life support treatment, according to the release.

The boy was taken to a hospital in an ambulance and transferred to the care of pediatric emergency room doctors.

No other information was immediately available.
