PHOENIX — A woman who was ejected from a vehicle after it hit a utility pole in Phoenix on Saturday morning has died, according to police.

Officers responded to the site of the accident near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road at 3:15 a.m., the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Once they arrived, they found a vehicle against a light pole.

Responders extricated two people from the vehicle. Three individuals were transported to a local trauma center.

A woman later died from her injuries. Two men are expected to survive.

The cause of the accident was unknown.

The Phoenix Police Department was conducting an investigation at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle lost control of it, left the roadway and struck the pole. The collision caused the vehicle to land on its side.

The woman, a passenger inside the vehicle, was ejected as it rolled over.

Police said impairment may have been a factor in the accident.
