3 motorcyclists arrested after allegedly going more than 110 mph on West Valley freeway

PHOENIX — Three motorcyclists were arrested after they raced past an Arizona Department of Public Safety state trooper at more than 110 mph in the West Valley on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The high-speed incident occurred around 5 a.m. on northbound Loop 303, according to DPS Highway Patrol.

DPS added that the motorcyclists were trying to outrun each other and weaving in and out of traffic.

The trio was stopped on Glendale Avenue and arrested for criminal speed and reckless driving. Their motorcycles were also impounded for 20 days.

“Riding a motorcycle is already risky,” DPS said in a social media post. “Take it to the track if you want to race.”
