3 killed, including 2 young children, in rollover crash on I-10 near Casa Grande

PHOENIX – Three people were killed, including two young children, in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande early Wednesday, authorities said.
Four other people, including three children, were flown to Phoenix-area hospitals for treatment, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
“We believe two or more of them had been ejected from the vehicle,” DPS spokesman Bart Graves told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
The crash occurred around 4 a.m. on westbound I-10 near McCartney Road in Pinal County, backing up traffic heading toward the Valley for miles.
A pickup truck with South Carolina license plates veered into the median for unknown reasons and then rolled over when the driver overcorrected, DPS said.
“We’ve not ruled out fatigue as a factor in the driver’s losing control of the vehicle,” Graves said. “We don’t believe impairment was a factor here.”
The man driving, a 3-year-old girl and an infant boy died at the scene.
A woman, a 13-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy and an infant were airlifted to the Valley. The hospitalized infant has life-threatening injuries, DPS said.
The westbound lanes of I-10 were closed at McCartney Road while the scene was under investigation. The freeway reopened around 10 a.m.
