3-alarm fire in Gilbert after apartments under construction catch fire

Apartments under construction caught fire in Gilbert. The blaze was a 3-alarm fire.

The fire was under control a few hours later according to Gilbert Fire and there were no injuries. They also recommended to avoid the area while work was finalized Saturday night.

The area under construction is at Gilbert and Juniper roads near downtown Gilbert.

The fire caused a road closure in Gilbert.

Gilbert Road is closed between Guadalupe & Juniper. Take Lindsay Rd on the east & Cooper Rd on the west to avoid the fire area. #GilbertAZ

The smoke from the fire was strong enough to be appearing on weather radars.
