22-year-old man dead following 3-vehicle crash in Phoenix

A 22-year-old man died following a three-vehicle collision in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers responded to a reported crash with injuries near Glendale and 35th avenues around 5 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When officers arrived, they located three vehicles involved in the wreck: a BMW sedan, a Toyota Camry and a Kia sedan.

Phoenix Fire Department crews took the driver of the BMW, identified as 22-year-old Kevin Lyman, to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary information suggests Lyman was driving west on Glendale Avenue at a high rate of speed when his BMW collided with a Toyota Camry exiting a private drive.

The force of the impact caused the Toyota to spin into the eastbound lanes of Glendale Avenue, where it hit the Kia sedan.

An adult woman and two children were inside the Toyota at the time of the crash. None of them suffered serious injuries, authorities said.

The man driving the Kia was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said neither surviving driver showed signs of impairment.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
