PHOENIX — Phoenix police arrested a fatal stabbing suspect on Monday night after the homicide case opened back in October 2023, authorities said.
Daymon French, 21, was booked into prison for second-degree murder for stabbing and killing 43-year-old Johnny Vaughn in north Phoenix on Oct. 16, 2023.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, officers at a traffic stop identified French and arrested him, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

At roughly 6:30 a.m. on the stabbing date, police responded to a call from a hospital near 39th Street and Bell Road regarding “a victim who was dropped off and suffering from critical injuries,” authorities said.
The victim, later identified as Vaughn, was taken to the hospital by a car that was not on site when police arrived.
Vaughn died from his injuries.
Police said they identified French as the suspect about a year ago, but their attempts to find him “were unsuccessful” until now.
