2-year-old dies after falling into Chandler backyard pool

PHOENIX — A 2-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a backyard pool in Chandler on Saturday night.

Just before 8 p.m., Chandler Police and Fire responded to a drowning near Cooper and McQueen roads. Crews arrived and found the toddler that had been pulled from the pool.

The child was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Detectives ended their investigation and determined the drowning was an accident.
