2 teenagers killed in Phoenix collision with another car, power pole

Two teenagers died Tuesday in Phoenix after their speeding car clipped another vehicle then slammed into a power pole and a block wall, authorities said.

PHOENIX – Two teenagers died Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix after their speeding car clipped another vehicle then slammed into a power pole and a block wall, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department said two 17-year-old boys were pronounced dead at the scene near 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

A third person in the car, an adult man, was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Police said the three had been in a red car that sped through the intersection around 2 p.m. and sideswiped a white car heading in the same direction.

The two people in the second car were unharmed.

The crash is under investigation.
