2 men dead after multi-vehicle crash in west Phoenix

PHOENIX – Two men died after a multi-vehicle crash in west Phoenix on Friday night, according to authorities.

Around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a reported collision near 43rd and Orangewood avenues.

Upon arriving, officers found 23-year-old Donnie Martinez and 35-year-old Ricardo Quintero suffering from serious injuries. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital where they later died.

Detectives believe Martinez was driving northbound on 43rd Avenue and swerved into oncoming traffic, where he later collided with Quintero’s vehicle.

After an initial investigation, authorities are unsure if impairment was a factor. Authorities are also awaiting the results of a toxicology report.

No other information was made available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
